Alcohol: Opposing Viewpoints

This book was pretty good!

Authors usually try to be objective, but most of the time their mind is clearly made up on one side of the issue or the other. When it comes to alcohol, many of the opinions are very polarized. This book was good because it allowed multiple authors to give conflicting views back to back.

I appreciated this much more than reading entire books on each viewpoint. A lot of the concepts about alcohol (safety while driving, effect on longevity, effect of drinking ages, etc.) don’t need entire books to cover. But opposing viewpoints DO need to be covered - it’s very easy to miss good arguments on the other side.

This book was clearly designed for students, as it begins each section with suggested exercises. Normally “textbooks” are quite bland, but this was very readable. It wasn’t dragged out and I was swayed to think differently about a few of these issues, even though it wasn’t a very long book.

Worth reading.
