Blatant Raw Foodist Propaganda!
I enjoyed this book!
I actually thought (based on the title) that this would be anti-raw foods. I’ve read a lot about raw foods and wanted more of the other side (ie cooking destroys some harmful enzymes, and in some cases “liberates” more vitamins, etc.).
But this book was exactly what the title says, blatant raw foodist propaganda. The cheeky title gives you an idea of the personality of the author, which is why I enjoyed it - most health books are very dry.
The author doesn’t claim to be an expert. He shares the opinions of other raw food authors and tells of his experience with the diet. It wasn’t enough to sell me on the diet, but it was fun to read.
I’m in the middle of the raw vs cooked debate. Incorporating more raw foods will help the average person a lot, and yet there are benefits to cooking some foods. This author and others are pretty firm that the real benefits don’t kick in until you are 100% raw, which I have a hard time believing or advocating.
I can’t really recommend this book one way or the other. If you’re already into the concept then you’ll probably enjoy the book, but if you’re not sold on it then this book probably won’t do it for you.
