The main construction of this book was to argue that apes descended from hominids, rather than a common ancestor.

Now, I don’t personally care much for that entire argument and I don’t believe the millions-and-millions evolution-from-nothing narrative, but I really like to read these “history of man” books that were published before game theory.

This is mainly because before game theory researchers had to actually write about real concrete evidence.

In this case I am much more interested in all the other animals and plants and the environment found in these old deposits alongside the hominids.

I think this book had a more honest discussion of the merits of each specimen and a fierce questioning of the entire story than I am used to seeing from modern biology.

I wouldn’t recommend this book specifically, but it was moderately interesting.
