The Dark Net - Jamie Bartlett
Before reading this book I thought that “the dark web” was something separate from the regular internet that we all use.
This book is very easy to read, and goes into the shadier things that happen on the internet. Some of this is on hidden or secure portals, but much of it exists on the normal public internet.
I also thought that much of the really bad stuff was done by seasoned “hackers”, people with serious computer skills - but the book outlines how that generally isn’t true.
I feel like I got a good understanding of many of the darker sides of the internet, and though the internet evolves quickly, I think this book (published in 2015) is still completely relevant. The author didn’t waste any words or burden me with their personal opinions. I felt it was very balanced and unbiased.
I recommend this book.
