The Death of Common Sense - Philip Howard

This book was great!

It goes into the history of law and what it was intended to accomplish, and how that’s changed over the years to a completely different purpose and outcome.

Early laws were brief and somewhat vague - like the constitution. This allowed for flexibility and common sense to overrule in situations where law was not fair. This has changed into extremely specific laws that have no room for debate or to accommodate situations where laws produce unfair, inefficient, expensive or nonsensical outcomes.

All of us are affected by overly specific and unfair laws, and this book gives a great overview as to why that happened, and what do to about it.

I enjoyed this a lot. I am often baffled at how inefficient and ineffective the modern legal system is. The book gave me a lot of clarity.

I recommend!
