The Happiness Advantage - Shawn Achor
This book was pretty good.
The book goes into the myth that success creates happiness, and makes an excellent case that the opposite it true - happiness causes success.
Most of the book is about 7 strategies to improve our positive psychology. This is much different from a lot of modern psychology that focuses on the negative - mental “illness”.
I agree these 7 strategies are important. They show up in other books too and I practice all of them - though my life isn’t perfect, I’m not clinically depressed anymore, so I know these strategies can have a radical impact on our mental health.
I did think the book would have more about success itself, but it was mostly the 7 strategies.
I can’t say this is the best book on happiness I’ve ever read, but it was quite good, and I think we should all study happiness from a variety of sources - one book won’t ever do the trick.
I do recommend this book.
