The Matisse Stories - A.S. Byatt
Being a big fan of Matisse, I tried to enjoy this book, but I could never seem to even get started with it.
As the pages went on, I realized that I had no idea what any of these stories were about. I couldn't seem to find the point in any of it. Characters talk but don't seem to say anything, and actions are taken without anything seeming to lead to anything else.
I finished the book and had no idea what I had read. Nothing about this book stuck with me. I didn't feel any jolt of understanding or joy. I caught no wit no humor or life lessons, and since I felt like I was reading nothing at all, I don't even know what I was SUPPOSED to gain from this book.
Do not recommend.
