The Ultimate Pet Health Guide - Gary Richter

This book was disappointing.

I like Richter a lot. But I feel like I learned more from his infomercials than this book. On video he is very forthright, but in this book I think he held back a lot.

If you swapped “dogs and cats” for “humans”, this book would hardly be any different from any generic health book - some decent information, but really not satisfactory to me.

There are only a few special considerations for dogs and a few more for cats that differ from human health. But, there is over a hundred years of interesting nutritional research using dogs and cats that was completely left out of this book.

I’m positive that Richter knows more, and is more passionate than is conveyed here. The book was very “safe” to me, not pushing any boundaries and basically staying totally in line with modern veterinary practices. This is a disappointment because modern vets are basically just MDs for animals, whereas they USED to be able to prevent and reverse most problems with nutrition.

Again, in infomercials Richter clearly knows more about animal nutrition and speaks openly about it. I don’t know why this book is so muzzled.

Do not recommend.
