What Your Doctor May NOT Tell You About Parkinson's Disease
This book was NOT good.
So far I’ve been disappointed with all the books in this “what your doctor may not tell you about” series.
These books are too generic, too safe. They try to cover both mainstream and alternative views and treatments, but put way more focus on mainstream methods. So you get a weird message: science doesn’t really know what causes Parkinson’s, but take these drugs, maybe get these surgeries, and here’s some foods and nutrients that some people think are important.
A big part of the book covers “coping” with your disease. I absolutely hate this, because the book is admitting that the treatments in the book will not lead to full recovery, so you’d better learn to cope with your disease.
Other than adding another book to this series, I really don’t know why this book exists. The authors do not seem to have any direct experience dealing with Parkinson’s. They may be very experienced, but there were no clues in the text. They make frequent references to other practitioners who DO have experience, and yet those recommendations fall short of confidence. There was really only one confident recommendation from any practitioner mentioned (glutathione injections).
This book was very disappointing and I do not recommend it. This was not a short book but it wasted almost all of its space. There is SO MUCH to say about Parkinson’s that was not mentioned at all. This doesn’t even qualify as a summary.
